About Elizabethtown

There are plenty of good reasons why an Area Development Magazine national survey ranked the Elizabethtown MSA 5th out of the Top 20 Southern Cities for economic and job growth. Talent, businesses and industry are coming to our region because it’s a great place to be successful. But they’re staying because it’s also a great place to live.

Elizabethtown offers affordable housing, quality health care, mild weather, good schools, safe neighborhoods and, perhaps most importantly, friendly people. Folks who grew up in our area wouldn’t want to live anywhere else, and many who did move away soon return home. Most transplanted residents agree. Why? Because the region offers that sense of connected living that few other locations can match. Here, you’re part of a community, a place where there are no strangers. Neighborhoods are places where everybody is a friend, and where porch sitting and the sound of kids playing are the rule, not the exception. And if you’re looking for a traffic jam, good luck with that!

The relaxed pace of life means getting home from work after a short commute, and being able to spend quality time with friends and family. The low cost of living means having enough money at the end of the month to afford something special. And the many amenities, from sports, outdoor activities, social organizations, churches, dining, shopping and more means folks have plenty to do, if that’s their desire, during time away from work.

Whether you're watching your kids play at the new world-class Elizabethtown Sports Park, enjoying a great night out at one of our many casual and fine dining options, or experiencing one of the many community festivals or a performance at the great cultural arts venues, there's always something going on in Elizabethtown and Hardin County. Need more, just 35 miles North is America's 16th largest city, Louisville, Kentucky.

Here, quality of life is more than a cliché, it’s the real thing. And if you have any doubts, just come for a visit. One trip and you’ll begin to understand! Learn more about living in Elizabethtown here.
